  1.                RULES FOR POLITICALLY INCORRECT NET

  3. The rules for this net, like most other BBS based mail networks
  4. are pretty simple, and easy to follow. They can be summed up
  5. pretty easily, in fact. 
  6.  
  7. 1) Treat others as you'd like to be treated.
  8.  
  9. 2) Debate ideas, not personalities.
  10.  
  11. 3) If you wouldn't want your kids to read it, don't write it.
  12.  
  13. While it would be wonderful to have these as the only written
  14. rules of the net, it's also impractical, because someone will
  15. always argue that their infraction didn't violate the three above
  16. rules.

  18. Content of Messages.
  19.  
  20. Remember folks, you have NO FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT ON A BBS. A
  21. sysop, or network has the right to restrict what you post. We
  22. aren't the goverment, we are private property owners who can
  23. dictate what is and is not okay on our property (BBS's). If you
  24. doubt this, please contact the Electronic Freedom Foundation,
  25. they will explain it to you in legalese.
  26.  
  27. A) The net is NOT age restricted, therefore, there is a language
  28. restriction. It can be summed up easily, if you use one of George
  29. Carlin's "Seven Words", or any derivation of them, you have
  30. violated this rule.
  31.      
  32.      1) The use of $#!#:*%&@ to disguise a word is also    
  33.         unacceptable, most of us can figure out what you meant.
  34.  
  35. B) Inflammatory, or "Hate" speech is also unacceptable. Calling
  36. other users of the net names does nothing to promote your own
  37. position in a debate, and in fact makes the name caller look
  38. silly. 
  39.     
  40. C) There is NO private mail allowed in this net. Even if the BBS
  41. you post from does allow private mail in a netted conference,
  42. there is no guarantee that the message will remain private until
  43. it reaches it's destination.
  44.  
  45. D) NO COMMERCIAL ADVERTISING! If you wish to advertise commercial
  46. products or services take out an ad in a newspaper. Violators
  47. will be warned on this, then have their access restricted.
  48.  
  49. E) No Advertising in conferences other than the FOR SALE area.
  50.  
  51. F) No carbon copies of messages. Since all messages are public,
  52. it is not necessary to send carbons to other users, as they will
  53. be able to see the original.
  54.  
  55. G) No "Spamming" of the net with messages. Messages should be on
  56. topic in the conference they are posted in. Cross posting the
  57. same message in multiple conferences will not be tolerated.
  58.  
  59.         1) Sysops who are just joining the net may send a message
  60.            in the PIN_Chatter, and PIN_SYSMOD conferences to
  61.            announce their arrival. 
  62.  
  63. H)  Off topic messages happen occasionally, but don't make them a 
  64. habit.
  65.  
  66. I) Flaming is not an acceptable form of debate, and will not be
  67. tolerated by any user.
  68.  
  69. It is, in the case of all nets, the users that make the net
  70. worthwhile. Following the above rules, and keeping the three
  71. basic one's in mind while posting make for a friendly net, where
  72. debate is encouraged. Constant violations of the rules drive away
  73. potential posters, and cause the net to wither.
  74.  
  75. Suggestions to improve the net, either by adding or deleting
  76. conferences, rules changes or anything else are encouraged. Post them
  77. in the PIN_SUGGESTION conference.
